Domestic surveillance is topic of LCSC Constitution Day panel

The federal government's domestic intelligence gathering program will be the topic of a panel and audience discussion at Lewis-Clark State College on Tuesday, September 17, which is Constitution Day.
The panel discussion, called "Domestic Spying and the Fourth Amendment," takes place at 6 p.m. at Sacajawea Hall, Room 115 and features panelists Dr. Richard Moore, LCSC Professor Emeritus, Political Science; Dr. Chris Riggs, LCSC Professor of History & Social Sciences Division Chair; Dr. Gene Straughan, LCSC Professor and Program Director, Justice Studies; Angela Wartel, Instructor, Justice Studies; and Dr. Leif Hoffmann, Assistant Professor, Political Science.
According to event organizer Dr. Leif Hoffmann, the discussion will focus on the Constitution, the Fourth Amendment, and privacy vs. safety concerns. Among the areas of discussion are: modern technologies, social media, a historical perspective of the Fourth Amendment in the courts, the NSA, and the Patriot Act.
The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be provided.
