LCSC plans events for Martin Luther King, Jr. Idaho Human Rights Day

Lewis-Clark State College is encouraging campus and community members to make Monday, January 21, "A Day On! Not a Day Off."
January 21 is Martin Luther King, Jr. Idaho Human Rights Day. In honor of Dr. King and his dedication to serving others, LCSC is hosting a Day of Service and evening presentations.
Dr. King, Jr. once said "Life's most persistent and urgent question is 'What are you doing for others?'" MLK, Jr. Day of Service is a national effort aimed at answering this question. Volunteers can sign up for service projects on a first-come first-serve basis. Anyone interested in having a group of people volunteer together can contact Alicia Reddy, LCSC Community Warrior Volunteer Center Coordinator. Individuals can also register for one of the service projects on the 21st at 11:30 a.m. outside the LCSC Williams Conference Center. Transportation will not be provided, so volunteers are asked to provide their own. The service projects will take place from 12 - 3 p.m. at various locations.
Organizations offering service projects include St. Vincent de Paul, Idaho Fish and Game, the Idaho Foodbank, and the Lewiston Public Library. Projects include making bird houses at Fish and Game, stocking shelves at the Foodbank, and sorting donations at St. Vincent de Paul.
Starting at 6 p.m., campus and community groups will provide entertainment at the LCSC Student Union Building amphitheater, followed by a candlelight procession to the LCSC Activity Center at 6:45. At 7 p.m., Richard Hight will present a performance featuring a visual representation highlighting Martin Luther King, Jr. Hight's work has been featured on a number of major networks, including ABC, NBC, CBS and FOX.
