Life Flight helicopter will participate in LCSC nursing drill

A Life Flight medical helicopter will be participating in a disaster drill put on by the LCSC Nursing and Health Sciences Division on Monday, April 22 on the lawn just east of the LCSC library. The drill begins at 1 p.m. and the Life Flight helicopter is scheduled to arrive between 1:15 - 1:30 p.m. The Lewiston Fire Department is managing the landing zone area and LCSC Campus Security will be on hand to assist.
The campus community is being notified and Nursing students are going door to door contacting residents adjacent to the area to ensure that they are not alarmed by the arrival of the helicopter.
The drill is part of a Community Health Practicum course, where students learn to focus on the needs and health of a community or group.
"FEMA tells us that the ‘new norm’ in disasters, whether man-made or natural, is that they will be worse than what we’ve seen in the past," said Dr. Lori Stinson, Chair of the LCSC Nursing and Health Sciences Division. "So, our nursing students are getting prepared in the event they need to face such a situation."
