Lt. Governor Little will deliver address at LCSC commencement Friday night

Idaho Lieutenant Governor Brad Little will deliver the keynote address at Lewis-Clark State College's spring commencement this Friday night, May 17 at the LCSC Activity Center. More than 700 degrees and certificates are being presented to graduates.
The commencement program begins at 6 p.m., with doors opening at 4 p.m. Seating is open and no ticket is required for admission. Overflow seating is not available. There is an area set up for wheelchairs next to the gymnasium floor and the north lot on 6th Street is reserved for handicapped parking.
LCSC President J. Anthony (Tony) Fernandez will welcome special guests Lt. Governor Little, Dr. William Goesling representing the Idaho State Board of Education, Brian Fonnesbeck, Chair, LCSC Faculty Association, and Amy Nelms, President, Associated Students of Lewis-Clark State College.
Special recognition will be extended to several individuals. President Fernandez will present the President's Medallion to Joy Rapp for her leadership and exceptional service to education and her many contributions to the community. Rapp is retiring after 20 years as Superintendent of the Lewiston School District. Dr. Chris Riggs will receive the President's Award for Excellence in Diversity and Cross-Cultural Understanding. Riggs served as Chair of the President’s Commission on Diversity for five years, has been an active participant in the annual LCSC Native American Awareness Week, and was a member of the Martin Luther King, Jr./Idaho Human Rights Day Planning Committee for eight years. Emeritus status will be conferred on six retiring LC faculty members. Recipients of the highest scholastic achievement awards will be announced. The Gertrude Mellen Dick Award, the President’s Award, and the Provost's Award all recognize graduating recipients based on scholastic achievement and contributions to campus and community.
Following the commencement ceremony, the LCSC Alumni Association will hold a reception for graduates, families, friends, and alumni at the Student Union Building.
The commencement ceremony will be webcast live on LCSC's website. To view the live video stream, Internet Explorer and Windows Media Player are required. The ceremony will be broadcast live on Cableone, Ch. 13.
