LCSC fall classes get under way August 25

LEWISTON, Idaho – New and returning students and faculty will soon arrive on campus as Lewis-Clark State College prepares for the official start of the 2014-15 school year on Aug. 25.

New student orientation takes place on Friday, Aug. 22 at the LCSC Activity Center beginning at 10:30 a.m. Lewis-Clark State President J. Anthony (Tony) Fernandez and Vice President for Student Affairs Andy Hanson will address students, along with special guests Dr. Bill Goesling, Idaho State Board of Education member, and Idaho State Senator Dan Johnson.

LCSC residence hall students will participate in the Fourth Annual Half Day of Service on Saturday, Aug. 23 from 9:30 a.m. - noon. They will work on various community projects, including staffing a free kids game booth at Hot August Nights; picking up trash in Pioneer Park and the Normal Hill area; and unloading donations at St. Vincent de Paul and Opportunities Unlimited.

Fall semester classes begin Monday, Aug. 25 with the annual LCSC Welcome Fair taking place that day from 10 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. in the area between Reid Centennial Hall and the Student Union Building. Campus departments and clubs, along with area businesses and organizations, will be on hand to share information with students. At 7 p.m., the LCSC Alumni Association will hold a pizza party for students in front of the SUB. There will be free pizza, soft drinks, and giveaways.
