November workshops set for SBDC

LEWISTON, Idaho - The Idaho Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at Lewis-Clark State College has just a few Business Essentials workshops left for their 2014 Fall Workshop schedule.  North Central Idaho participants are able to attend workshops in Lewiston, normally costing $45 each, for just $15, while USDA scholarships last.  All workshops begin at 5:30 p.m.

The first workshop in November is “Demystify Selling on Amazon” on Tuesday, November 4.  The instructor is Aziz Makhani, MBA, who brings experience in selling on Amazon as well as a background in high tech and entrepreneurship.  This workshop will provide information on how to get your product on the biggest internet marketplace: learn how to choose between Amazon fulfillment programs, understand commissions, write better descriptions, select the right images, list your product, ship without headaches, and figure out the communication protocols.  This will be a hands-on workshop.

The second workshop in November will be “Working with QuickBooks” on Monday, November 10.  This workshop is designed for those who have QuickBooks experience or who have completed QuickBooks Basics 1 and 2.  More advanced accounting tools will be covered, including job costing, cash flow projections, journal entries, controls, and figuring out how to fix what went wrong.  This course will be instructed by Su Brown, CPA, from Su Brown & Associates.

The next workshop in November is “Business Valuation for Buyers & Sellers” on Tuesday, November 11.   LCSC SBDC Director Barbara Leachman and guest speaker John Lane, Clearwater Economic Development Association lender, will discuss how small businesses are valued.  Topics include:  assets, income, goodwill, rates of return, liquidation, adjustments, marketing, documents, negotiations, capital, resources, and the role of attorney, accountant, appraiser, and lender.

The last workshop in November will be “Using YouTube to Grow Your Business” on Tuesday, November 18.  Instructor Aziz Makhani will be returning to share his insights on how to reach the one billion per month users.  It is a hands-on workshop to help you:  set up and name a YouTube channel, post a cover photo, link with your website, Google and utilize social media, post and monetize, use the video editor and enhancements for titles, embed, manage content, write descriptions, plus use Microsoft Movie Maker to create, splice and edit videos for uploading.
