Perconti releases new CD

Saxophonist and recently retired LCSC Professor of Music Bill Perconti has released a new CD titled Single Reed.  Consisting entirely of solo pieces, the album features classical saxophone music by composers Warren Benson, Benjamin Britten, Allan Blank, Paul Bonneau, Eugene Bozza, Leo Kraft, and Rick Sowash.

On this album, Perconti performs on five saxophones, qualifying Single Reed as the first commercial classical CD containing recordings on soprano, alto, tenor, baritone, and bass saxophones.  The musical styles on the CD range from abstract to traditional, and four of the pieces are world-premier recordings.

Available on Albany Records, a leading independent record company of classical music, Single Reed is Perconti’s sixth solo/ensemble CD and 13th overall.  Supported by LCSC and Allan Blank, the album is found on www.albanyrecords.com.

In addition to his many years of teaching at LCSC, Perconti has taught on the faculties of Central Missouri State U., Coe College (IA), and St. Cloud State U. (MN).  Perconti is currently leading the Alloy Saxophone Quartet, a professional ensemble based on the Pacific Northwest coast, in a recording that will be released in 2015.
