LCSC Alumni Association plans several events for Family Weekend on April 28-30

LEWISTON, Idaho – The Lewis-Clark State College Alumni Association will hold its annual Family Weekend with various events planned both on and off campus April 28-30.

Family Weekend is for current LCSC students and their family members, and features events for all ages. Last year, more than 600 students and family members took part in the event.

Registration is free and anyone planning to attend is asked to pre-register online and clicking on the link near the top of the page. On the registration form, orders are also being taken for Family Weekend apparel, which ranges from $5 T-shirts to $15 hoodies.

Also during the weekend, the Alumni Association’s annual Zing Award will be presented. The award honors a family member or a friend whose presence, endeavors, dedication, and care have contributed to the personal development, academic success and life achievement of an LCSC student. Nominations can be filled out online by clicking on the link on the family weekend web page.

Here is a list of the current events that are part of Family Weekend.

FRIDAY, APRIL 28

Art Under the Elms, noon-7 p.m., LCSC campus: Welcome to LC! Pick up your Art Under the Elms wrist bands, event information, and event apparel. The event features over 100 booths of exquisitely hand-crafted fine art items from artisans nationwide, and a variety of activities, performances and demonstrations. (Note: free admission to events is available only to registered Family Weekend attendees and will be available for pick up at Friday and Saturday registration times only.)

Men's Basketball Dollar Auction, 5:30 p.m., Lewiston Roundup Grounds: $20 admission cost. Social hour: 5:30 p.m, Dinner: 6:30 p.m. For tickets or information contact Brandon Rinta 208-792-2865 or [email protected].

Brad Byers’ Attempt at World Record, 7 p.m., Silverthorne Theatre: The Moscow, Idaho, entertainer will try to set a world record for stopping box fans with his tongue.

SATURDAY, APRIL 29

Registration, 9-10:30 a.m., Student Union Building (lower level): Welcome to LC! Pick up your AUE wrist bands, event information, and event apparel.

Breakfast Reception, 9-10:15 a.m., Student Union Building (lower level, solarium area): Stop by for a continental breakfast! This event is FREE for all registered Family Weekend participants. (Sponsored by the LCSC Alumni Association)

Official Welcome, 9:30 a.m., Student Union Building (lower level, solarium area): Welcomes from LCSC President J. Anthony Fernandez, ASLCSC, and Student Alumni Connection Committee.

Seaport Quilters Guild Festival of Quilts, "Galaxy of Quilts," 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Clarkston High School: See various quilts. Address is 401 Chestnut, Clarkston, Wash. Admission is $4.
Seaport River Run, 10 a.m., Lewiston and Clarkston: Enjoy a 2.9 or 5K run or walk. Register at: www.cityoflewiston.org.

Dogwood Show and Shine, 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., LCSC campus: Enjoy looking at various vehicles entered in the car show. Free to all.
ZING Award Presentation, 8 p.m., Silverthorne Theatre: Find out who put the “zing” in Amazing this year.

The Magic of Steven Brundage, 8:05 p.m., Silverthorne Theatre: Steven Brundage is a professional magician, who, at the age of 25, has been practicing magic for over half of his life. This event is free for all and sponsored by the Warrior Entertainment Board.

LC Valley Dine-Around, all evening, Lewiston-Clarkston Valley: Take the family out for dinner on the town and experience the great restaurants that the valley has to offer! Discounts and promotions will be offered at many establishments. Please refer to your registration packet for participating restaurants. Please note that dinner is on your own.
