Three exhibits will open Friday at the LCSC Center for Arts & History

LEWISTON, Idaho – Three exhibitions featuring local and Idaho watercolor artists will open on Saturday at the Lewis-Clark State College Center for Arts & History, located at 415 Main St. in Lewiston.

The exhibits are “Artisans at the Center,” “Idaho Watercolor Society” and “Idaho Watercolor Society North Region Showcase.” A reception for artists will be held on Nov. 11 at 1 p.m. at the Center. The two watercolor exhibits will run through Dec. 2, while the “Artisans at the Center” will run through Dec. 16.

“Artisans at the Center” features the work of resident artists at the Dahmen Barn in Uniontown, Wash, located 15 miles north of Lewiston. Workshops and demonstrations by exhibition artists will take place throughout November and December at the Center. Artisans at the Dahmen Barn is a non-profit organization that cultivates creativity on the Palouse by providing studio space for working artists, a venue for local performing and exhibiting artists, and creative experiences for children and adults through classes and workshops. The exhibit represents work of various mediums by 21 artists.

The 38th annual “Idaho Watercolor Society” (IWS) juried membership exhibition is a collection of 20 award-winning paintings from Idaho watercolor artists from across the state. The non-juried IWS North Region Showcase features artists from the Inland Northwest. IWS promotes the use of watercolor media, educates the public about watercolor painting, and gives a yearly scholarship to three young student artists from various Idaho colleges.

Exhibits are brought to the Center for Arts & History by sponsorships from Pacific Northwest Farmers Cooperative and Inland 360, and grant funding from US Bank and artsIDAHO.

The Center is open Monday-Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and features free admission but donations are welcome. For more information about the exhibitions or to schedule a docent tour, visit www.lcsc.edu/cah or call 208 792-2243.
