‘Worldviews of Islam’ will be the topic for LCSC’s Moore Honorary Lecture on Nov. 5

LEWISTON, Idaho – Raja Tanas, professor emeritus of sociology at Whitworth University, will discuss “Worldviews of Islam” as the Moore Honorary Lecture on Nov. 5 at noon in Room 100 of Meriwether Lewis Hall on the Lewis-Clark State College campus.

The discussion is free and open to the public.

Tanas has carried out extensive research in the areas of Middle East, Arab, and Islamic studies. He was voted Whitworth’s Most Influential Professor in 2010, won the school’s Diversity Award in 2011, and received the Burlington Northern Teaching Excellence Award in 1989.

The Moore Honorary Lecture honors former LCSC political science professor Richard Moore and his contributions to Lewis-Clark State. Moore worked at LCSC from 1978 to when he retired in 2005.The lecture is sponsored by the LCSC Social Sciences Division and by a grant from the Idaho Humanities Council.
