David Walker is nominated for Idaho’s Brightest Star award

LEWISTON, Idaho – David Walker, a regular on the Lewis-Clark State College campus where he both works and volunteers, has been nominated for the Idaho’s Brightest Star award for an individual.

The Idaho’s Bright Star Awards started in 2001 to recognize Idaho’s “unsung heroes” who volunteer tirelessly on behalf of children and families. The awards are a part of Serve Idaho, the Governor’s Commission on Service and Volunteerism. Serve Idaho is a division of the Idaho Department of Labor.

There are eight award categories, including the individual category, which Walker is nominated in. Last year, LC State professor Amy Canfield won the Teacher/Professor award.

The winners of each category will be announced during a banquet on Jan. 15 at the Boise State University’s Simplot Ballroom, located in the Student Union Building. Winners will be chosen by the Idaho’s Brightest Star Committee.

Walker works in the mailroom and for athletics at the college, but also volunteers and is seen at numerous events.

The LC State Alumni Association annually gives out a spirit award for extraordinarily alumni service. The award, which has been renamed the David Walker Spirit Award, is presented to an individual that builds pride and spirit on campus and who consistently demonstrates extraordinary loyalty, commitment, dedication and service to the college and the community.
