LC State sets events for Homecoming on Sept. 20-25

LEWISTON, Idaho – A variety of events, including the annual lip sync contest and faculty/staff vs. students kickball game, highlight activities during the 7th annual Lewis-Clark State College Homecoming Week on Sept. 20-25 on campus.

All Homecoming events are open to the public and are free unless otherwise noted. Anyone planning to attend one or more events is asked to register for free. While registering, participants will be able to purchase a Homecoming hat for $10. Only 150 hats are available and are on a first-purchase, first-serve basis.

The college’s COVID-19 protocols will be followed for all events. Face coverings are required indoors. This and other protocols may be found on the college’s Coronavirus web page.

Festivities kick off on Sept. 20 with a decorating contest. Offices and student clubs and organizations can pick a spot on campus to decorate through noon on Sept. 23. Judging will begin at 1 p.m. that day and prizes will be awarded.

On Sept. 21-24, the LC State Alumni Association is sponsoring a flag find. Each day a card will be hidden on campus and clues as to where to find the card will be posted on LC social media accounts, including Instagram and Facebook. The student who finds the card each day will turn it into the LC State Advancement office, located at 602 11th Ave., to receive an LC flag and a T-shirt.

Warrior Wednesday  will feature games, music and other fun events at 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on the east side of the Student Union Building/Center for Student Leadership on Sept. 22. Later that day, Sodexo will serve dinner outside on the north end of the SUB/CSL and there will be old-school field games to participate in. Dinner will be served at 5:30-7 p.m. and is free for LC State students with dining cards and $10 for anyone else.

Also at 5:30 p.m. on Sept. 22, the Associated Students of LC State will hold shopping cart races. Three people are needed for a team as two people will push the shopping cart while one rides inside it over a track. Teams are encouraged to come up with a theme and wear costumes. Prizes will be awarded for speed, spirit and style. Any team interested must preregister for the race and the team captain must attend a safety briefing on Sept. 21 at 5:30 p.m.

On Sept. 24 there will be a trivia contest and a lip sync contest. Trivia Night starts at 6 p.m. and will be held online with Kahoot to compete for prizes. The Zoom meeting ID is 963 4483 0984 and the password is trivia.

At 8 p.m. at the LC State Silverthorne Theatre will be the 7th annual Lip Sync contest. There will be prizes for the best individual, duo and group performances. The LC State Career Center will have a fashion show between acts to show the clothes available in the Career Closest available for students to use for job interviews. Those planning to perform must preregister.

A kickball game pitting the staff and faculty against the students will take place at 1 p.m. on Sept. 24 on the library lawn. To register to play, email Tate Smith at [email protected].

A food truck tail gate and LC State volleyball match will be held on the evening of Sept. 24. Food from Mariana’s Tamales will be available for purchase starting at 5 p.m. outside the LC State Activity Center. The Warrior volleyball team will then take on Warner Pacific of Oregon at 7 p.m.

Homecoming wraps up on Sept. 25 at 7 p.m. with a Bunco game in the SUB/CSL lower level. Prizes will be awarded to the winners.

Those purchasing a hat can pick them up on the following days, times and locations: Sept. 22 at 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and Sept. 23 at 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the east entrance of the Student Union Building; and on Sept. 24 at 1-2:30 p.m. on the library lawn and 5-7 p.m. at Harris Field.
