LEWISTON, Idaho – For the third consecutive year and the sixth time in the last seven years, College Raptor has honored Lewis-Clark State College for being a small college doing big things.
LC State was named a Hidden Gem in the Rocky Mountains Region by College Raptor, a leading college search site that helps students, parents, counselors and college officials with college planning. Driven by artificial intelligence algorithms, the platform helps students and families find the best colleges at the best price based on personalized estimates of financial aid, scholarship, academic match and acceptance rates at every four-year higher education institution in the United States.
To qualify as a Hidden Gem, a school must meet the following requirements: receive fewer than 5,000 applications per year; have fewer than 7,000 undergraduate students, offer five or more unique majors, and have a 10 percent acceptance rate or higher.
In its ninth year, the Hidden Gems list spotlights exceptional colleges and universities that may not receive as much national recognition but still provide students with a high-quality academic experience. Factors including retention rates, graduation rates, student-to-faculty ratio, endowment per student, selectivity, and other metrics as reported via the National Center for Education Studies are taken into consideration when developing honoring Hidden Gems.
College Raptor picks as many as three Hidden Gems per state, but not all states have three schools – public and private – that meet all of the criteria, so only 1-2 will be ranked
LC State was noted for its student-faculty ratio, the percentage of faculty who are full time, and its campus life with athletic success in particular.
