LEWISTON, Idaho – America’s 250th birthday will take center stage at this year’s Lewis-Clark State College Women’s History Month celebrations.
This year’s events, which are open to all, are scheduled for March 3-12 under the theme “Rebels with a Cause” and will look at the roles women have played in history, especially the American Revolution.

To kick things off, Courtney Kramer, a historical consultant and former director of Beautiful Downtown Lewiston, will give a talk titled “Guardians of Memory: Women and the Birth of Historic Preservation” at 12 p.m. Tuesday, March 3.
Haileyann Johnson, a senior studying history at LC State, will present on “The American Revolution, the Schuyler Sisters, and Women’s Roles: Why the Ladies of Hamilton the Musical are the Best” at 12 p.m. Wednesday, March 4. Johnson is also a judge for the 2026 regional History Day competition.
LC State Professor of History and Humanities Division Chair Amanda Van Lanen will discuss “Liberty Tea and Independence Cake: Recipes for Rebellion and a New Republic” at 12 p.m. Tuesday, March 10.
The event’s keynote address will be delivered by HannaLore Hein, Idaho state historian, at 12 p.m. Thursday, March 12. Hein will speak on “American Women: 250 Years of Expanding Influence and Community Building.”
All events will take place in Meriwether Lewis Hall, Room 100, on the LC State campus in Lewiston. The series is free to attend and open to the public.
