LC State earns Military Friendly Gold status for third year in a row

LEWISTON, Idaho — For the third consecutive year, Lewis-Clark State College has received the Gold-level Military Friendly School designation.

The distinction is given by Military Friendly, an organization that evaluates employer and college veteran policies and resources. LC State first received the Military Friendly designation in 2020, followed by Gold-level designations in 2024 and 2025. The Gold-level classification is reserved for the top 10% of institutions outside the Top 10 category for small public colleges.

“LC State is proud to serve students who have served our country,” LC State President Cynthia Pemberton said. “As this designation indicates, our small campus, dedicated staff, and student-first approach are a good fit for military members and their families.”

Institutions are evaluated using public data sources and responses from a proprietary survey. Methodology, criteria, and weightings were determined by Viqtory with input from the Military Friendly Advisory Council.

Schools are rated on military student support and retention (weighted 30%), graduation and career outcomes (30%), financial aid and loan repayment (12%), culture and commitment (10%), academic policies and compliance (9%), and admissions and orientation (9%).

LC State’s Veterans Services office works closely with veterans in utilizing their GI Bill benefits, as well as serving veterans' spouses and dependents using transferred benefits or the Dependent Education Assistance benefits. The school has students who are active duty as well as National Guard members who are utilizing federal tuition assistance and the State Educational Assistance Program.

Veterans also have access to the LC State Veterans Resource Center on campus where veterans, and those utilizing VA education benefits, can access free printing, snacks, a lounge area, and computers with CAC Reader access.
