We know that attending a career fair can feel intimidating, but it’s also one of the best ways to connect with employers, explore career paths, and take the next step toward internships or jobs.

Why Attend?

Career & Internship Fairs give you the opportunity to:

  • Explore internships and job opportunities across industries
  • Meet employers who are actively hiring LC State students
  • Build confidence in professional networking conversations
  • Learn about careers you may not have considered before
  • Take a real step toward your future career goals

How to Prepare

Review the list of attending employers and identify 5-8 you want to talk to. Learn what they do and what positions they’re hiring for.

Bring multiple printed copies of your most up-to-date resume. Have someone from the Career Center review it if possible.

Prepare a 20-30 second introduction that includes your name, major, interests, and what you're looking for (internship, job, experience, etc.).

Wear business or business casual attire that helps you feel confident and polished. Check out the free professional clothing closet at the Student Employment & Career Readiness Center (SUB 202).

Ask thoughtful questions, introduce yourself with confidence, and collect contact information for follow-up.

Quick Tips for Success

  • Prepare 2-3 questions per employer
  • Take notes after conversations so you remember key details
  • Follow up with employers within 24-48 hours
  • Start conversations even if you’re nervous - employers are there to meet you
