Center for New Directions

The Center for New Directions (CND) within Workforce Training (WFT) at LC State is part of Idaho’s larger effort to meet the employment readiness and training needs of single parents, displaced homemakers, or individuals preparing for work in non-traditional occupations.

CND and WFT

The CND is intended to help provide access to education and employment training for qualifying participants. WFT’s Center is specifically designed to aid potential students with:

  • Enrolling in training programs designed to provide marketable employment skills

  • Overcoming personal and economic barriers to education and employment

  • Pre-employment and pre-training preparation

Who Qualifies

Idaho residents qualify for CND assistance if they meet one of the following criteria:

  • Single parents with primary financial and custodial responsibilities of one or more dependent children

  • Displaced homemakers who have lost their primary source of income and are entering the workforce for the first time or re-entering after a hiatus

  • Individuals preparing for occupations that have less than 25% gender representation in a workplace field

To find out more or apply for assistance, please contact Workforce Training by emailing wft@lcsc.edu or call 208-792-2388.
