Impact Scholars
Impact Scholars are students who have been impacted by foster care, but know that they are more than their past and want to continue their education to change the direction of their future. Becoming an Impact Scholar means making a positive difference in your life and leaving an impact of your own on others.
Through Impact Scholars a student can:
- Earn an associates or bachelor's degree
- Get financial and academic support
- Belong to a community
Our mission is to empower former foster youth through access to higher education at LC State. Our program is committed to creating successful transitions from foster care-to-college and college-to-career for students through the experience of higher education.
Our primary goal is to make sure all emancipated foster youth at LC State have access to one familiar person on campus to go to for questions and referrals to campus resources including, but not limited to:
- Admissions and Records
- Financial Aid Counseling
- Referrals to Tutoring
- Year-Round Housing
- Student Health Center
- Advising Guidance
- Career Exploration
- Leadership Development
- Mentoring
- To be eligible for the Impact Scholars program, including the tuition scholarship, applicants must:
- Qualify for the Educational Training Voucher (see for example, Idaho's ETV Program).
- Submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
- Be admitted to Lewis-Clark State College as a first-year freshman or transfer student.
- Maintain continuous enrollment at Lewis-Clark State College.
- Maintain full participation in the Impact Scholars program (meetings, mentoring, events, etc.)
- Be receptive to staff monitoring academic performance.
- Participate in recommended academic/support services.
- Complete semester evaluations.
- Abide by the LC State Student Code of Conduct for appropriate conduct/community behavior.
