Marion Shinn Distinguished Alumni Award

Created in 2007 and combined in 2023 with the Alumnus/Alumna of the Year Award (1973). The Marion Shinn Distinguished Alumni Award recognizes those who have enriched the lives of others, served their community, the state, and Lewis-Clark State College. And who have a notable record of achievement through their personal and career endeavors, thus bringing honor to themselves and recognition to the college. This award is the highest honor the LC State Alumni Association bestows.

This award is named in honor of Dr. Marion Shinn, who graduated from Lewiston Normal in 1940. After serving our country in World War II he returned to Lewiston to teach at Lewiston High School. His career at LC State began in 1965 when he was named the Dean of Vocational Education. He retired from LC State in 1981. He was a major factor in the formation and building of the Alumni Association. Dr. Shinn had a distinguished record of service and achievement to the college and the community.
