Career & Technical Opportunities

Idaho high school students have the opportunity to earn Career & Technical Education (CTE) college credit by taking approved courses in their high schools, on-campus, and online. Students can also earn microcertifications that can lead to college credit via the Idaho SkillStack® program. These programs help to connect postsecondary pathways and outcomes with industry needs and workforce requirements.

Idaho SkillStack

SkillStack® is Idaho's badging and microcertification platform, empowering educators to validate student skills, leading to industry-relevant badges. Collaborative standards, evidence-based assessments, and educator authorization ensure skill recognition.

Program standards are developed for each badge through a collaborative process that engages industry, college/university faculty, secondary teachers, and other critical stakeholders. As students provide evidence of the competencies for each skill, educators evaluate the competencies based on common assessments. Once all skills are validated for a particular badge, the information is entered in the SkillStack platform and badges are issued.

To receive college credit, students must be registered in Skillstack, receive the required badge/micro-credential, and be enrolled as a degree-seeking student at Lewis-Clark State College. These credits may be claimed up to 2 years after completion of a course.
