The Lewis-Clark State College Library Archive’s purpose is to collect, preserve, arrange, and make available historical and social records of the College and to keep a primary source record of the events of preceding years and thoughts of past generations.

The LC State Archive is a closed archive, we kindly ask visits be requested several days in advance.

The College Archive documents the history of Lewis-Clark State College, under its various names, from 1893 to the present.

1893 - Lewiston State Normal School (LSNS)

1947 - Northern Idaho College of Education (NICE)

1955 - Lewis-Clark Normal School (LCNS)

1971 - Lewis-Clark State College (LC State)

LC State Archival Research

The Library Director will assist with research related to LC State's history and institutional records. Please submit your request in advance. Requests will be processed in the order they are received.

Materials available in the LC State Archive are subject to copyright law with respect to photo duplication and publication. In obtaining a reproduction from LC State Archives you assume all responsibility for determining whether any permissions relating to copyright, privacy, publicity, trademark, or any other rights are necessary for your intended use, and for obtaining all required permissions. Researchers are asked to respect the material by handling it correctly and carefully. Like the library, the archive supports the research needs of currently enrolled students, current faculty, administrators, and staff. LC State alumni, former faculty and staff, and others are welcome to use the collection.

Scope

The Archive is specifically concerned with the administrative and historical records of LC State from its beginnings in 1893 to the present day. Among the materials collected are:

  • Posters
  • Programs
  • Publications
  • Yearbooks

The selection and acquisition of materials will be made by the Library Director.
