Testing Center Policies

The policies below are designed to uphold academic integrity for all tests administered through the Center for Accessibility & Testing. If a tester is unable to comply with these policies, they may be asked to reschedule their exam for a time when they can follow all Testing Center rules. In such cases, the student’s instructor or vendor will be notified through an incident report.

Violations of any testing policy or provision outlined below could constitute a violation of the Student Code of Conduct and may be subject to investigation and adjudication by the Vice President for Student Affairs. An incident report will also be filed with the student’s instructor.

  • All testers must to show valid, physical picture ID before they are admitted for their test. For some tests a student ID is acceptable, others require a government issued ID. Check with the Testing Center staff to ensure you bring the correct type of ID.
    • A picture of your ID on your phone, or your student id number is not acceptable.
    • Please note, some vendor exams may require 2 valid forms of ID. Please be prepared.
  • All tests will be scheduled so they are complete 30 minutes prior to closing, with a 15 minute grace period.  If a tester arrives after the grace period and their test will run into close time or another person's test, the test will be rescheduled.
  • Certain types of clothing and accessories are prohibited in the testing room. Testers must put all items in a locker before entering the testing room.
    • No sweatshirts (hoodies or crew), heavy/puffy coats, and/or vests (light jackets and cardigans with no pockets are ok).
    • No purses, phones, backpacks and/or bags, FitBits or other fitness items, hats, smart watches, sunglasses, etc.
    • Smart glasses are prohibited. If you wear prescription smart glasses, you must have an alternate pair of glasses to wear during testing.
    • Contents of all pockets must be removed, including chapstick, candy/mints/gum, kleenex, etc.
    • Other items reviewed on a case-by-case basis
  • Food and drinks are not allowed in the testing room.
  • Breaks are generally not allowed once testing has begun, except if allowed by the testing vendor or on a case-by-case basis. In cases of emergency, testers may use a designated restroom and should understand any timed exams will continue running while they are away from the center.
  • All notes and scratch paper, even notes for open book/open notes tests, must be turned over to Testing Center personnel upon completion of an exam, before a tester goes to their locker.
    • All notes and scratch paper are shredded unless there are instructions to turn them in to the instructor on file.
  • Testers may not access any other information except for their exam unless identified and approved by the course instructor. The Testing Center staff must have confirmation of any exceptions from the instructor before the beginning of the exam.
    • This includes but is not limited to: email, messages, grades, classroom discussions, chat, computer/internet history settings or any other websites or programs.
  • Once testing is complete the tester will immediately sign out and exit the testing room. If testers wish to review their grades, they must do so on a computer outside of the testing area.
  • Proctors have the right to inspect the computer and testing environment before and after completion of the exam.
    • Instructors will be notified if any unauthorized behavior is observed during the exam and an Incident Report will be filed.
  • LC students testing with an outside proctor must follow LC rules as well as rules at their chosen proctor site.
  • All exam fees, when applicable, must be paid before testing.
  • All testing is monitored and recorded by video camera with audio capabilities.
